Should you visit Seville

Seville has several wonderful tourist attractions that are worth visiting. The town center with its magnificent church and great restaurants makes for a worthwhile albeit short term visit. Seville is a sprawling city and lacks a consolidated old town area or the magnificent architecture of other large cities. It’s geography is essentially flat with no real mountains. It does have two train stations and a good if not somewhat small airport away from the town center. Various hotels from expensive to low cost can be found, although most of the lesser cost hotels will be outside of the city center. Its south central locations is a great base to see other cities and towns in the area and it is very walkable. It does get very, very hot in the summer but rather pleasant in the other months of the year.

Should you retire to Seville

If you prefer to live outside of the city center and have a bit of a walk or drive into that area, Seville is a good possibility. Rentals and real estate for sale is reasonable in the outer neighborhoods and there are many dining and entertainment options. For year round living you may want to consider other locales that have a more even climate and offer more in historical neighborhoods and sites to visit. But for those who prefer a slower pace of life, Seville is a good choice.

The passionate flamenco dance and the laid-back indulgence of an afternoon siesta are not merely romanticized versions from a long-ago Spain. These traditions are still prominent aspects of life in Seville and throughout the country's southernmost Andalusia region. A city marked by Jewish, Islamic and Christian influences over the many centuries, Seville has each religion's presence on display in its churches, minarets and neighborhoods as well as it culinary delights. Travelers can appreciate a good dose of history while leisurely strolling down narrow streets and relaxed meals of sensational offerings. Indulge in tapas at a street corner cafe or listen to a guitarist's tunes in an open-air plaza. The sunshine and laid-back lifestyle will lure you to relax but be sure to make time for visits to the parks, gardens and palaces that showcase the city's complex history and architectural splendor.

Seville, like most inland cities in Spain, is very hot during the summer months. I mean really hot! The downtown area, which spreads out in all directions, provides for many opportunities to book accomodations. With the Guadalquivir River running through the lower end of the city, there are many locations to explore and enjoy. This may be a great destination for the winter holidays, taking advantage of the cooler temperatures.
